7 Tips for Healthy Eating & Losing Weight

When you get serious about losing weight, and/or getting in shape, and/or losing weight, and/or building muscle, your diet plays a huge role. Probably more than most people realize. Regardless of your fitness goals, there are elements of your diet that should remain constant. You need to eliminate sugars, eliminate saturated fats, reduce carbohydrates, and increase your intake of protein and other vitamins.
It will take dedication and will power to effectively change your diet and stick with it. And as I’ve mentioned before, one of the keys to getting real results is consistency. Consistency in your cardio training, lifting weights, eating well, etc. If you are dedicated to working out and reaching your goals then you can make a few changes to your diet that will really help.
- Stop using salad dressing - I don’t care if it is reduced fat, low fat, or fat free. It is still unnecessary calories that you’re ingesting. I love seeing people who think they’re ordering a healthy salad only to drown it in ranch dressing. Kill the dressing. Your salad may taste dry at first, but you’ll get used to the taste of the actual salad and vegetables.
- Drink black coffee - I’m not even talking to those of you who drink your lattes, mochas, shakes, or other Starbucks drinks. If you’re drinking those they have to go immediately. But if you’re drinking coffee with cream and sugar, start drinking it black to cut some additional calories. You’ll get used to it.
- Drink Water - Stop drinking soda and juices. Drinking water and lots of it is the way to go.
- Cook Your Own Food - Eat breakfast at home. Bring your lunch to work. Make dinner at home. This accomplishes a few things. It reduces the unhealthy eating choices, it eliminates unhealty cooking ingredients used at restaurants, and will get you used to a health eating routine that will lead to results.
- Eat 6+ meals per day - Eating more frequently throughout the day increase your metabolism and is better for your body than starving yourself all day and then gorging on one or two meals.
- Be Strict - It is so important to be consistent. Eliminate the instances “just the once”, or “special occasion”, or “treating myself”. Remember your goals and stick to your plan.
